Unique Club of Asamankese, a benevolent society on Wednesday presented food and cash totalling over GH¢400 to the Osenase Orphanage in the West Akyem District of the Eastern Region. The items included four bags of rice, tubers of yam, vegetable cooking oil, assorted biscuits, fruit drinks, crates of soft drinks, detergents, cannel fish, tin tomatoes and 50 yards of dress materials among others. The club also gave the children sunglasses and balloons and refreshed them with each member adopting a child as a friend. The Chairman of the Club, Mr Emmanuel Osei, said members decided to visit the children at the particular period of the year to make them feel at home. He promised that they would pay periodic visit to the orphanage and offer whatever assistance they could to help in the running of the home and the growth and development of the children. The items were jointly received by Madam Comfort Nyakoa, head-mother of the orphanage and Pastor Akwasi Denkyira-Boateng in-charge of the Osenase assembly of the Elim Evangelical Church, which is running the home. They expressed the orphanage's deepest appreciation to the unique club and said the donation could not have come at a better time. Source: GNA
