The Board of Directors of GLICO Life Insurance Company Limited have appointed a new Managing Director in the person of Mame Dufie Achampong-Kyei Obeng.
She takes over from Mr. Edward Forkuo Kyei who has taken up a higher responsibility as the Group Chief Executive Officer of GLICO Group Ltd.
Mrs. Achampong-Kyei Obeng was the Executive Director, Technical Operations for GLICOLIFE, prior to her appointment as Managing Director for GLICO LIFE.
The new Managing Director is a Chartered Insurer and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (United Kingdom).
She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with Economics and Marketing from Aston University (United Kingdom) and a Master of Science degree in Insurance and Risk Management from Cass Business School (United Kingdom).
She is currently a Doctoral candidate of Business Administration at the Swiss Management Centre (SMC University, Zurich).
Mrs Achampong-Kyei Obeng has extensive experience in insurance operations, having worked on various capacities at GLICO as a Marketing Executive, Underwriting Officer, Claims Officer and a Management trainee.
She also has in-depth experience in risk management and pioneered the formation of an Enterprise Risk Management Department for GLICO GROUP, this led to her appointment as Group Risk Manager before her penultimate appointment as Executive Director, Technical Operations of GLICO LIFE.
The Executive Chairman of GLICO GROUP, Dr Kwame Achampong –Kyei, was extremely positive when asked about the new Managing Director’s appointment.
He stated that “Mrs Achampong-Kyei Obeng is an incredible professional and is without a doubt, capable of driving the success of GLICO LIFE into the next decades”.
He also added that, as GLICO positions itself stronger to exploit synergistic opportunities in insurance, it has become extremely important to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to reconsolidate the Group.
The elevation of the outgoing Managing Director of GLICO LIFE, Forkuo Kyei, who is one of the best in Ghana’s insurance industry, to play the key role as GLICO CEO, is a clear indication that we have the best people on our team.
Mr. Forkuo Kyei, the new Group CEO was optimistic about the future of GLICO GROUP and had this to say: The GLICO brand is a trusted one in the insurance industry and the time has come for GLICO to provide more value-added services for Ghanaians and beyond.

When asked about her immediate plans for GLICO LIFE, the new Managing Director indicated that her immediate focus is to go back to the basics of GLICO LIFE’s foundation by offering tailor-made policies that add value to the current life expectations of Ghanaians.
She expressed enthusiasm about the future of GLICO LFE and stated that “GLICO LIFE is getting bigger and better!”

For the past three decades and counting, the company has maintained a reputable mark in the industry as one of the top five in the non-life insurance sector.
