The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has sworn-in a new governing council to be led by Dr Daniel Kasser-Tee as new national president of the Institute.
Dr Kasser-Tee officially takes over from Kojo Mattah.
Kojo Mattah successfully strengthened the Institute’s strategic business units, modernized the selection process of CIMG Annual Marketing Awards, partially completing its building project, among others.
Speaking at the 8th Investiture and Handing over Ceremony of the CIMG Governing Council, Dr Kasser-Tee outlined some key areas his administration will focus on. These are based on a 7-point agenda he campaigned on.
Key focus
He expressed the need to build a viable and reputable professional body taking cognizance of new developments and innovations.
“We need to work hard at instilling world-class marketing standards and ethics into the profession,” Dr Kasser-Tee said.

He also hinted of plans to establish a secretariat that is equipped with the necessary resources, that is, leveraging technology to improve workflow.
He said his administration will employ the right technologies and sharpen the skills of the Institute’s employees to perform optimally.
Marketing bill
After various failed attempts with the National Accreditation Board, the CIMG says it has been able to push the Marketing Bill to parliament. The bill is meant to give the Institute the powers to commence local marketing examinations.
The Institute says the Parliamentary Select Committee has finished its work and expected to be laid before the whole house for it to go through the necessary processes to get it passed into law.

Dr Kasser-Tee said the Bill when passed, will also give the Institute the regulatory power to sanction members engaged in unethical behaviours.
The new CIMG administration has pledged to pursue relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to attract global attention to its operations in the country.
Outgoing President, Kojo Mattah joins the CIMG governing council as an ex-officio member.
