Nana Owusu Annor Panin III, Chief of Kyirapatre in Kumasi has added his voice to calls for traditional leaders at Bawku to intervene in the conflict in the area.
He said the intervention of the traditional heads was crucial to ensure an end to the conflict which had already taken a toll on lives and led to destruction of property.
The Kyirapatre Chief, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the weekend, said the volatile situation prevailing at Bawku did not augur well for the development of the area as well as the upcoming Ghana 2008 Soccer Tournament.
He also called for collaboration between the National House of Chiefs (NHS) and the Government to find lasting solution to similar simmering tension in other parts of the country before they escalated into bloody clashes in the future.
Nana Owusu Annor, therefore, called on the feuding factions to hold their peace to enable the Government to re-channel funds for peacekeeping to develop the area.
He called for cooperation on the part of Bawku residents for the Police as they continued in their efforts to restore peace to the area.
