Muslim leaders in Ashaiman and Tema on Saturday prayed for peace and unity for the nation in connection with this year’s general elections.
Imams, Mallams and Tribal Chiefs who participated in the prayers (Adua) read portions of the Koran and asked Allah for His blessings and peace to be experienced in the country throughout this year.
Nii Adjei Kraku 11, Tema Mantse, a Muslim said knowing the importance of peace to the development of the nation, the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) organized the Adua, which would be observed annually.
Nii Kraku said apart from the prayers, Muslims must always exhibit the teachings of the Koran on peace and unity.
The Tema Mantse advised all residents of Tema to live cordially with each other, while contributing their quota to the development of the harbour city.
Alhaji Abdul Kadiri, Tribal Chief of Greater Accra Dagomba Society thanked the Traditional Council for organizing the prayers and stated that the Adua was organized annually in the northern part of Ghana.
Alhaji Kadiri called on all Muslims to continually pray for the nation as the country could not do without it.
Alhaji Daan Alfa from the office of the National Chief Imam, Shiekh Nuhu Sharabutu opened the Koran and led the prayers on his behalf.Source: GNA
