Operators and hawkers at the Ayi-Mensah toll booth were given a scare Saturday, December 14, when a Metro Mass Transit bus came colliding into at least six other vehicles waiting to pay their tolls.
The bus, which allegedly failed its brakes while descending from the mountains, was packed with passengers heading to Accra from Aburi.
The passengers, most of whom suffered minor injuries, were sent to the hospital and affected vehicles towed to the Adentan Police Station.
The accident happened in the late hours of the day. By the time security personnel and law enforcers got to the scene, residents around the area had trooped to the place to feast their eyes.
Eyewitnesses say the inability of the driver to control the bus, gave hawkers around and the toll booth operators a hint to run before the the vehicle came to a stop after crashing into some more vehicles.
