Former host of Joy FM's flagship morning programme, Super Morning Show, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Hannah Serwah Tetteh and former Director General of GBC and 2012 running mate of the PPP, Eva Lokko, are among the heavy weights lined up to stir deep thinking on March 22, 2014 at the maiden TedxLabone Conference in Accra.
Uche Ofodile, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone; Hayford Siaw, a Social Entrepreneur and a Reach for Change Leader; Papa Arkhurst, an Entrepreneur and Public/Motivational Speaker among others are also billed to speak at the event.
Under the theme “inform, Empower & Educate", TEDxLabone2014 speakers will touch on topics ranging from technology, entertainment, design and education, climate change, architecture, music, science and parenting.
Set to take place at the Kama Conference Centre in Labone, the event brings together leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline.
The talks at the conference, “TEDTalks,” are then made available to watch for free on TED.com.

Speakers at TEDxLabone will look back and reflect on things that have happened over the past 30 years with the aim of enriching knowledge.
Ms. Hanna Tetteh, a Lawyer and Politician will talk about her passion: “Women in Leadership and Governance - Why it matters and personal reflections”, while Uche Ofodile, will talk about “Woman to Woman: How successful women can replicate their success through mentoring”.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Hayford Siaw, and Mrs. Eva Lokko, will respectively share intriguing experiences in their various fields on "Dream, imagine, explore; Challenging today's African to conquer tomorrow", "Do good, doing it well", and "The Third Pillar For Job Creation".
Papa Arkhurst -Entrepreneur will speak on "Functional Citizenship".
Paul Anomah-Kordieh, a visually impaired newscaster and a motivational speaker will talk about ; "Disability and Employment Struggle—Personal Lessons"; Regina Agyare, Software Developer and Social Entrepreneur will be speaking on "Changing Africa’s Single Story with Science".
At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussions and connections on the topics.
Speakers’ presentations will be interspersed with musical and other entertaining performances including videos such as “ Telling the African Story: Komla Dumor" at TEDxEuston and "My philosophy for a happy life: Sam Berns" at TEDxMidAtlantic 2013.
The late ace BBC broadcaster Komla Dumor and award-winning investigative journalist Anas Areemeyaw Anas were TED Speakers in the past.
Also lined up to speak at the event include D.K Osei-Yaw, a writer, rapper, actor, musical and recording artist, Benjamin Gregory Aggrey Social Entrepreneur and Brands Specialist, Patricia Obo-Nai Chief Technical Officer.
In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” a central theme of all TED events, TEDx was created as a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
