Akyem Swedru Jan. 15, GNA-The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court last Monday sentenced Kwame Ayi, a 22-year-old car washer to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old schoolgirl.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo, prosecuting told the court, presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that, Ayi who resides in Accra came to Anyinam Kotoku in the Birim South District last year December
to spend the Christmas holidays.
He said Ayi met the victim in the town and propose love to her but she rejected the proposal.
On December 22 Ayi met the girl again in the town and lured her into his room under the pretext of giving her a Christmas gift but ended in defiling her.
The prosecutor said Ayi after satisfying himself, warned the victim not to disclose her ordeal to anyone or else he would kill her but the girl informed her mother immediately she got home.
He said when the woman sent her elder son to go and invite the convict,
Ayi rather became annoyed and subjected the boy to severe beatings.
The case was then reported to the Akyem Achiase police who issued the
victim with a medical form to attend hospital where it was proved that she was defiled. The police later arrested Ayi who admitted his guilt.GNA
