The Ashanti Regional Branch of Barclays Bank has donated 100 bags of cement worth GH¢5,000 to the Nuriya Islamic School at Sepe in Kumasi on Friday.
The gesture followed a request made by the school to the bank.
Mr. Kofi Quao, the Ashanti Regional Area Manager, presenting the building materials at a brief ceremony said the request was granted to help sustain the development of the school.
He added that, the bags of cement would help improve the quality of education since giving the uncompleted school a facelift would ensure a serene atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.
The Area Manager promised the school 50 dual desks totalling GH¢1,500 to furnish the school when the project was completed.
Receiving the items, Dr. Muhammed Liwaudeen Ahmed, Founder of the school thanked the donors for the gesture and appealed to other benevolent organizations and individuals to help develop the school.
He said the school, established in 1958 and taken over by the government in 2004 had a population of 205 in the Primary and 41 in the Junior High School (1 and 2) depended on donations for survival.
Miss Beatrice Mensah, the Headmistress of the school appealed to parents and guardians to take advantage of the free educational system and send children of school-going age to school.
