Ghana exhibited her rich and unique cultural identity to the international world with a magnificent opening ceremony at the 26th Africa Cup of Nations at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Sunday.
True to the predictions of the organizers, the 45-minute well rehearsed ceremony staged by 2,500 people ensured that they left indelible marks on the minds of the nearly 40,000 people seated at the refurbished Ohene Djan Stadium as well as the estimated 4.5 billion viewers across the globe.
It was an afternoon of rich cultural display that commenced with a beautiful rendition of the national anthem sung by three beautiful ladies dressed in the red, yellow and green colours of Ghana.
Followed by the diagonal entry of hundreds of horn blowers from the four openings of the inner perimeter and horse riders as well, soccer fans could not help but to greet them with a thunderous applause, amidst fire works.
Every aspect of the ceremony reflected the various Ghanaian culture, backed by sounds from fontonfrom drummers.
The cheers emanating from the stands to the show of real treat of tradition and culture ensured the crowd had no option than continue clapping throughout the ceremony.
Most foreign journalists present at the press tribune could not help but join in clapping and one journalist remarking, "It's good".Source: GNA
