The United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Ltd on Saturday, January 18, 2020, joined other dignitaries in a send forth party for out-going Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Olufemi Michael Abikoye at his residence in Accra.
A delegation led by the Regional CEO for UBA West Africa, Mrs. Abiola Bawuah, included the MD/CEO of UBA Ghana Mr Isong Udom and other staff from UBA. The team graced the colourful ceremony amidst cultural representation of Ghana-Nigeria.
Mrs. Abiola Bawuah in her remarks noted the High Commissioner’s use of diplomacy to resolve concerns of Nigerians in Ghana and his willingness to support people stating that “you are not a Nigerian but an African” she concluded.
Mr. Isong Udom for his part commended the excellent human relations of the out-going High Commissioner and wished him well in his future endeavours.
High Commissioner Abikoye commenced his 30-year diplomatic journey in Ghana when in 1998 he was posted to Ghana. He has over the period also served in Cameroun and Japan.
Since his arrival in Ghana to begin his official duty as High Commissioner on July 15, 2017, he has visited and touched lives of the ordinary people in all 16 regions during his two and half year stay in Ghana.
At the climax of the ceremony, Mr Olufemi Michael Abikoye was celebrated by the diplomatic community and his compatriots for his passion for touching lives through engaging in charitable activities.
His efforts led to support from the Nigerian government for the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) at Teshie. He is also credited with improving the Ghana-Nigeria relations.
The ceremony ended with HE Olufemi Michael Abikoye expressing gratitude to all for their immense support during his stay in Ghana.
