A drum-head service was on Wednesday held at the Second Battalion of Infantry to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Battle of Myohaung at Apremdo near Takoradi.
Contingents of the Second Battalion of Infantry, Western Naval Command and the Takoradi Air Force Station formed the parade under the command of Captain Eric Annor.
Also in attendance were the regimental band of Western Naval Command and a contingent of the Western Regional branch of the Veteran Association of Ghana (VAG).
Reverend Thomas Kwesi Addo led the service assisted by Lieutenant (Reverend) Francis Agyeman and Imam Majeed Ahmed.
Commodore Frank Daley, Commander of Two Garrison read the bible reading and Ex-Corporal Nana Amankwah, regional chairman of VAG, read a short history of the battle.
Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, Western Regional Minister, was the guest of honour.
Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okyere, General Officer Commanding Southern Command and Service Commanders were present at the function.
