The Krachi-East District Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the President's nominee, Mr. Douglas Koranteng as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Assembly.
Mr. Koranteng, a former Coordinator of the Krachi East National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), polled 26 votes out of a total of 38 votes cast representing 68 per cent in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.
The Assembly hall went into wild jubilation as soon as the results were declared.
Mr. Koranteng who was lead by Mr. Frank Addo, Krachi East and West Magistrate to take the oath of office and allegiance, said his administration would be transparent and pledged to promote peace, unity and development in the area.
Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, advised the new DCE to collaborate with all stakeholders and to consider the assembly members as important components of the Assembly for the speedy development of the area.
The Regional Minister advised the DCE "You must not forget your chiefs and assembly members because your success depends largely on them."
Mr. Joseph Kwaku Nayan, Deputy Regional Minister, commended the assembly members for confirming the President’s nominee and expressed the hope that the DCE would work hard to enhance the development of the area.
