Nana Abraham Kwadwo Kwakye, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has advised traditional authorities to work hard to lessen the workload on the Ministry of Chieftaincy, to help promote peace and unity for accelerated nation building.He said the government recognized and appreciated the immense contributions of traditional authorities, hence the creation of the Ministry.Nana Kwakye, who is also the acting Chief Executive for Sene district, gave the advice at the annual yam festival of the chiefs and people of Wiase.The annual festival was instituted four years ago on the enstoolment of Nana Adu Atta Ababio II, as the paramount chief of the area.Nana Kwakye appealed to the traditional council to promote peaceful co-existence among the people and to help resolve and reduce chieftaincy disputes in the area.He advised those who had not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme to do so and called on parents to take advantage of the Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme and enrol their children in schools.Nana Kwakye noted with regret that the district had performed badly in the registration of people into the health scheme and appealed to the chiefs to educate their people about the benefits of it.“Your involvement in educating the people to acknowledge the benefits of the health policy will help them to appreciate the efforts of the government and get registered for their benefit”, he added.On behalf of the Sene district assembly, Nana Kwakye presented 100 bags of cement to the Wiase traditional council in support of an on-going palace project.Nana Adu thanked the Deputy Regional Minister for the gesture and pledged to work hand in hand with the Assembly and appealed to the government to rehabilitate some roads in the area.The chief complained that the contractor working on the Waise-Kwame Danso-Bassa-Kajaji road had abandoned the project and this was affecting the economic and social activities of the people, who are predominantly farmers.Source: GNA
