Increasing number of men throng offices of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service to report cases of assault by their wives. This is a marked departure from the past when men were hesitant in reporting such cases. The current trend is attributed partly to the passage of the Domestic Violence Law. Speaking to Joy News on the current trend, the Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinator of DOVVSU, Chief Superintendent Jessie Borquaye said reports were made on a daily basis by men on violence against them by their spouses. According to her, although cases of theft and threats were also reported, assault cases were dominant. She noted that while some men requested the unit to prosecute their wives, others asked the police to caution the perpetrators.
