Mr Abdul-Rahman Abubakari, Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stressed the party's determination to amass the support of more community leaders in the region towards this year’s election.
"We cannot afford to remain in perpetual opposition to the ruling government when it has done so well for us and we therefore count on you to support us to win all the Parliamentary seats this year for Nana and the NPP”.
“We have to show the whole world that we are back to our roots", he told various groups of community elders he met during a tour of the Jirapa constituency.
"The mantle that S.D Dombo, Jatoe Kaleo, Abaifaa Karbo and B.K.Adama of blessed memory left has been delivered to Nana Akufo-Addo and our monument to these great sons of the region should be retracing our way back to the NPP to support Nana to win".
He was accompanied in the tour, which took him to all key towns and villages in the constituency, by Mr Seidu Hamidu Bomison, a Founding member of the Party, Alhaji Yakubu Seidu, Managing Director of Upland Hotel in Wa and Alhaji Sulemani Yahaya, both leading members and some party activists.
He said some of the Members of Parliament in the region have been in parliament for close to six years but had nothing to show to the people by way of their contribution to reducing their poverty and it was time they showed them the way out of Parliament for new crop of MPs to take over.
"You know when water stays in the mouth for too long it turns into saliva and when you farm in a the same plot for too long it looses its fertility and your yield reduces".
"Nana Akufo-Addo will win the elections and this time round we want the region to be part of Nana's imminent victory so that when we are not given cabinet post we will have cause to complain".
The elders of Duori, Tugo, Tizza, Sabuli and Ullo all pledged their support for the Parliamentary candidate, Mr Justin Dakorah, who is also the DCE for Jirapa and Nana Akufo-Addo, saying that, the Party could win in the constituency this time if they organized their campaign well.
