National Democratic Congress flagbearer, Prof John Evans Atta Mills, has sent a "Labour Day Message" and says 'ayekoo' to all workers.Press Release:
Labour Day Message
As worldwide, today, is reserved as a day that acknowledges the contribution of organized labour to the development of nations, I salute Ghanaian workers for their contribution to nation building.
It is not a secret that Labour in Ghana has had cause to continuously voice out its legitimate concerns.
As a party that that is firmly rooted in the tenets of Social Democracy, job creation, people-centered approach to governance, welfarism, and the justifiable concerns of labour, will very much be at the core of NDC policy initiatives.
Indeed, the four major pivots around which the NDC’s messages revolve, are:
1) Investing In People, 2) Creating Jobs & A Strong Economy, 3)Maintaining & Expanding Infrastructure, 4) Transparent & Accountable Government.
I am assuring Labour that an Atta Mills government will do none other than work relentlessly to firmly anchor these four pivots for the benefit of one and all.
I am also assuring Labour of a true, honest, open, and above board approach to all manner of negotiations, and will not lead a government that will give its word at the negotiation table only to renege on its side of the bargain.
Government and Labour must be equal partners in nation building, and that is what Atta Mills and his government shall be committed to.
With a committed approach to nation building and a very strong determination to move Ghana to an acceptable level of growth, which I pledge myself to, Atta Mills and his government shall effectively partner Labour to give Ghanaians a Better Ghana.
Once again, on behalf of the NDC, I say, Ayekoo, to the hardworking Ghanaian workers.
Let us always remember that in unity lies strength.
John Evans Atta Mills
(NDC Leader & Presidential Candidate)
