Members of Kwahu East District Assembly for the second time within 10 days failed to confirm the appointment of Lieutenant- Colonel Alex Owusu Dwamena (Rtd) as District Chief Executive.
Thirteen out of the 23 assembly members present voted for him while 10 voted against him and he could not obtain the two-thirds majority needed.
Two assembly members failed to attend the emergency meeting held at Abetifi.
Mr Kwadwo Afram-Asiedu, Eastern Regional Minister, advised the assembly members to seek the interest of the district and vote for Lt-Col Dwamena for the early release of the district’s share of the common fund for development projects in the communities.
Mr Eugene Atta Agyepong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, advised them to seek first the development of the district and approve the nominee to move the district forward.
It would be recalled that the assembly members failed to confirm the nominee last week when he obtained 12 out of the 23 votes cast while 11 members voted against him.
President John Agyekum Kufuor has to withdraw his nomination and appoint another person.
