The Northern Regional Security Council has confirmed the arrest of 17 suspects in connection with the murder of the overlord of the Nanumba Traditional Council, Na Andani Dasana.
The Bimbilla district police commander and the District Chief Executive have also been invited by the Police CID to assist in investigations.
Addressing journalists in Tamale Monday, Chairman of the Northern regional Security Council, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna said more suspects are still being pursued.
He has therefore called for public support to identify and apprehend the other suspects from their hideouts.
Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, who is also Regional Minister, said the regional security has recommended deployment of more troops to the area as well as tightened the existing curfew to maintain peace there.
The police have been asked to extend patrol to neighbouring communities.
“The Ministry of Interior has since effected the recommendations of the regional security council and the dawn to dusk curfew is in place,” he said.
Meanwhile the Defence Minister Mark Woyongo, Inspector General of Police Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan and a deputy Interior Minister are expected in Bimbilla.
Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng who is travelling with them said, the team would assess development there, meet with the district security council, and also meet with families of the victims.
