An Executive of the CPP in the United Kingdom, Hayford Akrofi, has been shot dead at his residence in Amasaman by some assailants.
The assailants reportedly broke into his house at 3:00 am Monday morning through the boys quarters, attacking the occupants before finally shooting the deceased.
It is unclear the motive for the murder.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tettey has confirmed the incident, saying the police have begun investigations into the matter.
The National Vice Chairman of the party, Oteng Anane said the murder of the deceased person has come as a shock to the party.
Speaking to Joy News’ Beatrice Adu, Mr Anane said he found the lifeless body of Hayford Akrofi when he drove to the residence after hearing of the incident.
“I went to verify whether it is true. He was dead already when I got there,” he confirmed.
The deceased until his death has been living with his family in the United Kingdom before he recently returned to Ghana.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the police morgue for autopsy.
