A 25-year-oId man is in the grips of the Tema Police for burning the hands of his eight-year-old daughter for stealing fish from soup.
Jacob Kuli, a truck pusher resident in Ashaiman, is a single parent whose wife is said to have abandoned the family.
A police source told The Finder that the complainant, Mr Joseph Adjetey Adjei, is the landlord of the suspect.
The source explained that Mr Adjei, who resides at Appolonia in the Kpone- Katamanso District, on June 26 visited his property in Ashaiman, where Kuli, the suspect, lives.
According to the source, the landlord exchanged pleasantries with the suspect, who was then leaving home for work.
The landlord later spotted bruises on the victim’s back, plus severe bums on both hands.
Mr Adjei asked the victim what happened and she said her father dipped'her hands into boiling water for taking fish from soup the previous night after he had severely flogged her.
Mr Adjetey subsequently reported the matter to the Ashaiman Police, who gave him a police medical form to take the victim to hospital.
Kuli was then arrested, and after interrogation and investigations, he was charged with causing harm.
Kuli was to appear at the Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ last Monday but the court did not sit so he is to appear at a later date.
