Days after 70% shares of Ghana Telecom was sold to Vodafone UK in one of the most controversial divestiture programmes, the dust appear not to have entirely settled. One of the major critics and presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party, Dr. Paa Kwasi Nduom says his party will review the sales agreements if a CPP government is voted into power in December. At a press conference in Accra on Monday, Dr. Nduom said the next CPP government will unbundle the fibre optic entity from the agreement, and make it a government owned facility, which will then be opened for partnership to all the other telecommunications companies in the country. He further stressed that the GT University will be integrated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In his strong worded statement to Vodafone, Dr. Nduom said the CPP will take a holistic look at the agreement to ensure that the best interest of the country is served. “To Vodafone I say buyer beware! Know where are you are. Know what you are buying. Know the people who have opposed this deal and the reasons why they did. Also know that when a CPP government comes into power it would review the whole agreement to ensure the protection of the Ghanaian interest." Explaining why he walked out of parliament on the day of ratification of the agreement, Dr. Nduom said both sides of the house resorted to shameful propaganda, blaming each other for past agreements without dealing with the substantive issue on board. “It was clear right from the beginning that the majority NPP was there to engage in a propaganda battle with the NDC not on the merits or demerits of the sale of GT but on which one of the two parties had been the best or worst seller.” Author Nathan Gadugah
