New Patriotic Party presidential candidate during the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s campaign team has refuted claims making the rounds that his doctors had advised him to forfeit any future elections because of serious health issues.
But Media Liaison Officer with the Akufo-Addo 2016 campaign team, Andy Owusu, stated it was not true and that Nana Addo was very fit to contest the NPP’s upcoming presidential primaries.
Andy Owusu alleged it was a ploy adapted by Nana Addo’s opponents to discredit him.
A news release by the team also described the assertion of Nana Addo's ill-health in the media as reckless.
He explained the propaganda machinery within the leading opposition party in the country since 2008 has taken different forms, and therefore, the opponents were initiating such moves to thrive.
He further confirmed to Joy News that the team had been able to trace the source of the rumour, which claimed twice defeated Nana Addo had been counselled by doctors not to attempt running for presidency again due to sickness.
He however was tight lipped about mentioning whoever it was only to say they were keeping it on the quiet until their investigations were done.
