President John Agyekum Kufuor will leave Accra on Monday for Berlin, Germany, for a three-day state visit at the invitation of German President Hörst Kohler.
The visit will afford President Kufuor the opportunity to express his appreciation to the German Government for its development support to Ghana and also for the increased economic and political relations between the two countries, a statement from the presidency signed by Mr Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President, said.
Ghana and Germany have excellent relations and good working co-operation on bilateral and multilateral levels resulting in reciprocal high level official visits with the recent ones being those of President Hörst Kohler and Deputy Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeyer.
The statement said highlights of the visit would include bilateral talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Kohler.
President Kufuor will also meet with German businessmen and other political leaders.
President Kufuor will return home on Saturday.
