Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle constituency Freddy Blay says his party must rescind its decision to nullify his election, before considering an out of court settlement.
Blay who is also the deputy speaker of parliament, sued the Executive Committee of the Convention Peoples Party for daring to nullify his election as the party’s member of parliament for the fourth time.
He has asked the court to revoke the decision of his party top hierarchy.
General Secretary of the party Ivor Green street hinted to Joy news they will not mind settling the case out of court, but counsel to Freddy Blay, says that could only happen if the party executives eat their words.
“Blay was punished without having been proven guilty”, Godfred Yeboah said in an interview with Joy news. “The party has to withdraw its decision to nullify his election and discontinue the disparaging remarks about him before we can sit down and talk” he added.
Meanwhile pollster Ben Ephson has advised the CPP to accept the conditions and move on.
He says Blay’s resignation will not be in the interest of the party, at least at the constituency level.
