The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been complaining there may be some electoral malpractices going on in the special voting exercise.
The party said it has received reports that the list of special voters has doubled at some polling stations.
The NDC said it has suspicion some people who do not qualify for the special voting have been allowed to cast their ballot.
According to the Member of Parliament for Asewase in the Ashanti Region, Muntaka Mohammed, he had had stopped some of these people from voting.
The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Kofi Asumaning, has however stated that the issue is being investigated.
He however stated that turnout had increased because of the EC had stepped up its education for the electorate to cast their ballot when the time is due.
He said the EC had to make sure that it created the environment for all special voters to cast their ballot, adding failing to do that would mean disenfranchising them.
Meanwhile early voting across the country on Tuesday got off to a peaceful start, Joy correspondents have reported.
There were reports some polling stations had registered a low turnout.
