Former Chelsea coach Avram Grant is likely to be appointed as new Black Stars coach.
At a press conference in Accra, Friday, the FA said Grant performed creditably well after the three-man shortlisted interview and may announce his appointment next week.
However they are yet to agree personal terms with him, failing which Spain's Juan Ignacio Martínez would be appointed.
According to the FA president Kwasi Nyantakyi, they were impressed with Grant's interpersonal skills, and his overall plan and philosophy for Ghana football.
His ability to speak English was also a criteria used in selecting him as coach of the Black Stars.
Michel Pont and Juan Ignacio Martínez were the two other applicants for the vacant Black Stars job.
Grant may well be the first Israeli coach to handle the Black Stars if appointed.
Grant has spent the majority of his career coaching and managing in Israel, winning a number of national league and cup victories with different teams, and also managing the Israeli national team for four years.
He moved to England in 2006 to become Technical Director of Portsmouth before being appointed Director of football at Chelsea in July 2007.
Two months later, in September 2007, following the departure of José Mourinho, Grant was appointed manager of Chelsea. Despite steering the team into the Champions League final, the League Cup final and contesting the Premier League title to the last day, his contract was terminated at the end of the season.
