Ghana’s leading Judoka Emmanuel Nartey, placed fifth in the 2014 Judo World Cup in Port Louis, Mauritius.

Nartey, who competed in the under-73kg, lost to Ibanez Fenando of Ecuador in the semi-finals.

The Ghanaian also failed to make amends in the next round as he lost to Algerian Djeddi Ousamma to miss out of the bronze medal as well.

Nartey, who also serves in the British Army, has therefore failed to secure the much needed position to book a place in the next Olympic Games.

However, he has been presented with another opportunity to revive his Olympic dream as he is expected in Japan this week to engage in another Olympic qualifier.

He told sportscrusader.com that, though it was a painful experience, he was ready to look into the future for better opportunities.

Nartey, said he will be in Japan for three weeks to prepare adequately for the Japan Grand Slam and was confident on making amends in the competition.

“The Olympic Dream is not over, I have more competitions ahead, I just have to train well and make amends in those competitions”.

Nartey, was part of Ghana’s contingent at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, in Scotland but could not make progress due to injury. Ghana’s Judoka, Emmanuel Nartey, will be participating in the 2014 Judo World Cup in Port Louis, Mauritius.
