The Hawks of Togo coach Tchakala Tchanilé has quickly dismissed any thoughts of taking it easy against Ghana in their final group qualifier on Wednesday in Tamale.
Togo lost by 1-4 to Guinea in Lome on Saturday making their chances difficult in booking their place in Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 African Nations Cup.
The Hawks are placed fourth in the group with six points – meaning a must win result is needed against the Black Stars which is their focus so the Togolese handler has ruled out any thoughts of losing competitive focus and says there is more at stake and nothing else.
“I would like to say hard luck to the players, we are still left with one game, against Ghana,” Tchanilé said.
“I know Ghanaians will think it is going to be a walkover; no, we are going to put out our best team. It is more than the three points at stake when we come to Ghana.
“It’s going to be another tough game like the one we played with Guinea, which many had thought was going to be easy. Thanks to all the supporters, their presence helped us, but we disappointed them.”
Togo were the better side in Lome despite they losing 2-3 to Ghana and are hopeful the reverse could happen in Ghana.
With one eye on next year’s AFCON, Tchanilé knows the hard work must continue and has revealed his mission for the tournament is in progress
