Ex Ghana goalkeeper Abubakari Damba, has cast doubts over the capabilities of all three Black Stars goalkeepers ahead the crucial AFCON qualifier against Togo on Wednesday.
The Black Stars will take on Togo at the Tamale stadium and it is not clear among the three goalkeepers called up; Fatau Dauda, Razak Brimah and Stephen Adams who will keep the post.
Razak Brimah was handed a starting role in Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Uganda in Kampala on Saturday.
“Razak might be very competitive but he has not had the opportunity to play behind this back four in any competitive game to acquaint himself competitively with the actions of his back four, to build the cooperation between him and the players,” said Damba.
Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams throughout the qualifying campaign has started three games, Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Guinea in Morocco, Ghana’s 3-2 win over Togo in Lome and the 3-1 victory over Guinea at the Tamale stadium.
Abubakari Damba insists Ghana still have issues with goalkeeping.
"We have had challenges with this particular department for a period of time, it is very true that if anyone of the three goalkeepers had impressed they would have permanently stayed in post for the Black Stars.
“This tells you that satisfactorily they are not performing to the expectation of the technical team and as such have no choice than to keep rotating them,”
“I don’t think this is good for us, the three keepers are on the same level but are not competitive enough."
