Ghanaian-born former France Captain Marcel Desailly has advised Black Stars coach Avram Grant to call up players who are committed and willing to fight for Ghana at next month’s Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea.
Grant who is expected to name his final squad by end of December is currently on a tour of Europe monitoring Ghanaian players.
The former Chelsea and AC Milan defender who was born in Ghana before later playing international football for France has stated that Ghana have been drawn into a tough group and Grant can succeed with players who are committed.
“We need players who are committed to the country without thinking about anything else, you have to put your personality aside to be able to fit into the project which is to win the AFCON tournament,” said Desailly
“If you are a player we just want you to perform, if coach gives you a role that you are not comfortable with, just talk to him about it and not put on any negative attitude.”
Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Algeria are in Group C for the 30th edition of the continental showpiece which kicks off January 17 to February 8.
