The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), has been asked to provide log books for the collection of vital information on passengers, at all lorry stations in the country.
Names, hometown and destination of passengers and registration numbers of vehicles conveying passengers should be provided.
Nana Otamakro Kwadwo Adubofour, Ankobeahene of Bechem Traditional Area, made the call in an interview with GNA at Bachem on Wednesday.
He said the spate of lorry accidents in the country required prudent measures for easy identification of accident victims and deceased persons.
Nana Adubofour, who is Chairman of Bechem GPRTU disciplinary committee, said some people who died in lorry accidents were kept in the mortuary at hospitals for long periods because their identities could not be established early.
He also said hospital authorities found it difficult to contact relatives of victims of accident in critical conditions.
