A new charity organisation, King Tackie Tawiah III Foundation, with registration number 1129658 has been formed in the United Kingdom to promote the work and vision of the Ga Mantse. The foundation’s objectives include the advancement of education and training for people living in Accra, relief of poverty, sickness and distress in the capital city of Ghana, promotion of good health in Accra and education of the public in Ghana and abroad in the arts, culture and the history of Ga people.King Tackie Tawiah III was installed as the Ga Mantse in June 2006 and immediately made it a priority to ensure the unity and development of the Ga Traditional area. The foundation, according to a press statement, prided itself with the King’s focus to rebrand and transform the city of Accra through sustainable development initiatives and strategic partnerships in the fields of health, education, infrastructure and culture.“His Royal Highness, the Ga Mantse said, ‘the Greater Accra Region is the seat of Government of the Republic of Ghana. We have a unique heritage to develop ourselves, our people, culture, environment and resources for the future generations to come...Accra is the backbone and the gateway to Ghana, we must all work together to ensure unity and progress’.”Mr. Charles Safo, Global Coordinator of the King Tackie Tawiah Foundation emphasised: “The King’s vision is not for Ga people alone but will benefit everyone who has a connection in Accra and wishes to live, work or invest there now or anytime in the future. We have reached out to many organisations abroad who now share the King’s vision and soon we will see practical examples of projects in key areas being implemented in the pursuance of our goals.”There are series of events planned for this year, including an inauguration gala dinner and other fund raising events, to promote the objectives of the foundation.Story by Isaac Essel/Myjoyonline.com
