The Minister of the Interior, Mr Cletus Avoka, on Monday directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye to ensure that personnel of the Ghana Police Service have their name tags and service numbers embossed in their uniforms with immediate effect.
The Minister gave the directive when he met with the IGP in his office, in Accra.
A press release issued by Nana Akrasi Sarpong, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said Mr Avoka said wearing of name tags would provide easy identification by the public who are the direct beneficiaries of the services of the police.
It would also ensure that police personnel behave well in the discharge of their duties and also expose imposters, who use Police uniforms to commit crimes.Source: GNA
