Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has donated one ambulance for use at the Wa Airport.
The vehicle forms part of the fleet of ambulances provided by government for all constituencies as part of its one ambulance one constituency policy.
The Upper West Region has eleven constituencies and all of them are provided with the ambulance.
However, two additional ambulances were given to the region following a request by Dr Bin Salih for the Wa Airport and the University for Development Studies hospital at the Wa campus.
His request was accepted and with a promise from the authorities they would be another additional ambulance for Bulenge in the Wa East constituency.

The Upper West Regional Minister, in a brief remark before handing over the ambulance to authorities at the Wa Airport, noted that the ambulance will perform a dual role.
He said the ambulance could be called out to places where the service is needed apart from the airport.
Dr Bin Salih also indicated that the ambulance will be stationed at the regional head office of the Ghana National Ambulance Service as the airport does not have the needed facilities to house the ambulance.
“It is only when flights are scheduled that the ambulance would be brought to the airport,” the Minister said.

Caretaker of the Wa Airport, Mohammed Saani Alhassan, who received the ambulance on behalf of the Ghana Airports Company thanked the president and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council for the support received since they started operations at the Wa Airport.
He said the presence and operations of the ambulance will be key to the smooth operations of Airports the world over and was, therefore, happy that the donation of the ambulance will improve tremendously their operations at the Wa Airport.
