The Medical Superintendent of the Tamale Central Hospital, Dr. Mahama Nbewaya has commended the Fulani community for a donation of Veronica buckets and other medical supplies to the hospital to aid in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, the items from the Fulani Youth Association of Ghana (FYA) was the biggest donation the hospital has received so far.
At a short ceremony to receive the items, Dr. Nbewaya said the gesture had come at the right time.

“You have brought the things when we need them the most. This morning, nurses at the maternity ward were crying for soap and gloves because they had to attend to antenatal. So I am extremely grateful for this. These buckets will also be enough for the wards.”
The Medical Superintendent used the opportunity to appeal to the Association to begin a massive campaign on malnutrition in the hinterlands where most of their people lived.

Dr Nbenwaya said most of the Fulani men have shown that they are capable of providing for their family, hence taking an interest in the nutritional needs of their family will go a long way to prevent malnutrition.
“I will like to applaud Fulani husbands. When their wives are admitted here, they are always here.

"I always get delighted when I met them because they are always there to immediately provide for their spouses so I am therefore appealing to other communities to emulate this example,” he said
A member of the Association who spoke on behalf of the Karaga Fulani Chief Abdul Rahman Jallo said the Association had noted the needs of the health facility hence the decision to support with the items.

According to him, government cannot win the battle against the coronavirus pandemic without support from other institutions and private organisations.
Mr. Jallo said the Association which is into philanthropic work, will support the hospital whenever the need arises.
