Five thousand boxes, each filled with a month's supply of food, has been packed and ready to be delivered to some selected homes.
This forms part of efforts to cushion the vulnerable during the lockdown that has been imposed on Accra, Kasoa, Kumasi and Tema by President Akufo-Addo.
The move, initiated by IPMC with support from government, is expected to be distributed from Monday April 20.
With over 200 workers and volunteers drawn from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and social workers, packaging of the food began at the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School at Madina on Sunday, April 19.
The volunteers, some from the private sector, first went through social distancing and hygiene checks before re-bagging products like rice, gari and beans.
Other products added to the package include tuna, tomato paste and cooking oil.
For delivery, private institutions like Forwin Ghana, Azar Paints, Internet Solutions, Ghandour and Polygroup have made available their trucks to help in the distribution.
IPMC has also engaged an automation team to put stock control and bar-coding systems in place while a drone team handles live delivery footage of the presentation.
They are appealing for more donations and contributions from philanthropists interested in helping the less privileged in the society.
