The Nursing and Midwifery Council is urging the general public and other stakeholders to beware of fraudsters impersonating members of the council on social media.
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate, only verified accounts operated by the Council must be engaged for basic information and updates.
The statement sighted by JoyNews and signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Directorate, Nana Boateng Agyeman said the fraudsters use various accounts to promise unsuspected members a pass in their licensing exams in exchange for money.
“This is, therefore, to inform the general public that a group of imposters are operating fake Facebook accounts with different variations of the Facebook account name of the Council. The only official Facebook account of the Council is Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana with a blue tick, signifying that the page has been verified by Facebook,” part of the statement read.

The statement further said “the imposters are using the photographs of Mr. Eric LipeAbaye, a Senior Officer at the Council to defraud Clients and Stakeholders of their hard-earned resources, promising them jobs, PIN renewal and assisting them in passing the licensing examination.”
Mr Boateng Agyeman urged nurses and midwives to report any social media accounts that solicit monies on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
