One person has been confirmed dead at Odawna after over five hours of flooding in Accra, Tuesday.
This was confirmed by Lt. Col. Michael Mfum from the 48 Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces during an ongoing rescue mission.
A joint team of military and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) went on the mission after torrential rain hit the capital from midnight on Monday to the early hours of Tuesday.
The team has since retrieved the body of the deceased who is said to have died after he was electrocuted during the downpour.
One resident said the deceased was in his flooded home packing items when the incident happened.
About 20 persons have also been rescued so far, officials say.

Many residents in and around the central business district have been left stranded and displaced.
At the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange and its adjoining areas, the downpour has also destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis.
Residents are calling on NADMO to come to their aid.
