The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has admitted the party hierarchy may have delayed in engaging aspirants in the NPP primaries who harbour grievances.
Sammi Awuku was, however, quick to add that they did not know the intention of these aspirants who were disqualified from the race.
Speaking on Prime Morning on JoyPrime TV, he told host Daniel Dadzie that “sometimes the process delays so when during the engagement process people don't express themselves early it brings some challenges.”
The run-up to the NPP Parliamentary Primaries scheduled for June 20 has seen agitations in some constituencies where delegates claim their preferred aspirants are being forced out of the race to favour sitting Members of Parliament.
In Kwabre East Constituency in the Ashanti Region, some party activists pronounced curses on party executives who tried to prevent Osei Poku from running.
Also in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, an ultimatum was issued by some members who claimed one Samuel Binfo was being removed for sitting MP, KT Hammond to run unopposed.
But the National Organiser says the issues are being resolved.
“We continue to engage aggrieved parliamentary aspirants behind the scenes.
"It’s an ongoing process. These are difficult times for us as party leaders but we cannot shirk responsibility and that is why we have decided to hit the ground, engage our people so sanity can prevail,” Sammi Awuku said.
