Organisers of the 5^th EMY Africa Awards is set to close voting by 6PM on Monday June 22, 2020.

A lot of votes have trickled in since the scheme announced the nominees for three keenly contested competitive categories: Man of the year sports, Man of the year entertainment and PAV Ansah Communicator Award a few weeks back.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime the Executive Director of EMY Africa Awards, Kojo Soboh said 2020 marks the 5^th anniversary of EMY Africa Awards and even though we are in difficult times because of Covid-19, the awards scheme will not compromise its standards.

“EMY Africa Awards is 5 years this year. We looked forward to having a mega event, however, COVID 19 has changed the dynamics of the events’ space in the world and a lot of events have either been called-off or postponed. But like our tagline says; Inspiring Greatness, we are overlooking the difficult times and in resilience, pull through with a spectacular event, maintaining the prestige of EMY Africa Awards.”

Since 2016, EMY Africa has celebrated the best in men’s achievements across local industry, community, culture and public service. Dozens of men and personalities from all ages and walks of life have been honoured for their abilities, initiatives and contributions to society.

“The focus has been on accomplishments of men and fathers, and their contributions to society. The future is quickly becoming the present. It is therefore imperative that we mirror good role models to the younger generation.”

Some of the past recipients of the EMY Africa Awards include former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, Sir Sam Jonah, Professor Joseph H.K. Nketia, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu (the national chief Iman of Ghana), Azumah Nelson, Togbe Afede XIV, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Adebola Williams, to name a few, with businessman and philanthropist, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong being honoured as the Ultimate Man of the Year for 2019.

This year, apart from the three competitive categories, other honorary awards will be given to very well deserve gentlemen who have made their marks in several disciplines.
