The Ghana Education Service (GES) says an investigation into circumstances that led to the demise of a final year student at the KNUST senior high school on Tuesday will be concluded in a week.
According to the Deputy Director-General for the Service, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, management of GES expects to receive a report from the Ashanti Region Director by early next week so appropriate action is taken against those who breached GES guidelines.
The school was thrown into turmoil on Tuesday when students went on a demonstration over the death of their colleague.
The students say, out of fear that the boy may have contracted Covid-19, he was left unattended, and in the care of his colleagues for nearly three hours.
The news of his death, spiked a demonstration of the school campus, forcing armed security personnel to storm the facility to restore calm and order.
But speaking on Prime Morning on JoyPrime TV, Dr KB Tandoh also condemned the actions of the students.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, the Deputy Director-General chastised the angry students for destroying properties amid the confusion.
Dr. Tandoh also said his outfit has resolved to improve the communication between school authorities and parents especially when it comes to Covid-19 related issues.
