Residents of Techiman Tanoso in the Bono East are unhappy about the notoriety the town is gaining for being one of Ghana’s high pedestrian knockdown spots.
With at least two indigenes from the town being involved in fatal accidents every year, the situation has become worrying.
Speaking to JoyNews' Seth Kwame Boateng who visited the town as part of MultiMedia Group's Arrive Alive campaign, the Sanaahene, Nana Antwi Boasiako said the residents are unhappy about the situation.
The road that goes through the middle of the town is one of the country’s busiest; linking southern and northern Ghana.
It is also on this stretch that many cargo trucks ply to deliver goods in Ghana's neighbouring Francophone countries.
In response to earlier concerns, the Ghana Highways Authority installed numerous roadsigns at strategic spots along the road to curb speeding.
But this however appears not to be doing the trick.
The residents tell JoyNews, the sharp bends in the road may be a potential cause. They say vehicles continue to run into homes in close proximity to the roadside.
