Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh has commended Ghanaians and members of the Savannah Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for assisting the Kafaba Police in handling the case of a 90-year-old woman who was killed after accused of being a witch.
Speaking at a meeting at the Yagbonwura palace in the Savannah Region, the IGP said the Council together with the residents have exhibited patriotism for providing the Police with relevant information.
“You are to help the police fight crime. So I will, therefore, thank all Ghanaians for showing their patriotism and giving us the information that led to the arrest of perpetrators of this crime,” he said.

So far, the Regional Police Command has arrested seven people including the fetish priestess who accused Akua Denteh of witchcraft.
Touching on the upcoming elections, IGP Oppong-Boanuh pledged an election devoid of violence.
He noted that his outfit will take all necessary measures to tackle any glitches that may arise.
He then advised, “We are all one people. We are interlinked no matter where we are, so we shouldn’t let politics create violence for us to be killing each other. It won’t be good for us.”
On his part, the Yagbonwura King, Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore-Essa I said the kingdom is satisfied with the handling of the Akua Denteh’s case, particularly the arrest of the priestess who instigated the whole incident.
