The Founder of the National Interest Movement Dr Abu Sakara has called on electorates in the Damongo Constituency to exercise their franchise during this year's general elections with their community in mind.

Speaking at a marriage ceremony in Damongo, the agriculturalist and politician tasked the constituents to rally behind Independent Candidate Tiki Dange as he believes it will help contribute to building the community.

"The whole point of the movement is to put national interest above partisan interest and that is why we are supporting Independent Candidate so that we can do what is best for our communities and not what is best for our political parties," he stated.

He told the constituents that the notion behind his request was based on the fact that the democracy has rendered the world unstable and failing to fulfil the interest of the people and believes coming together as a community will make a difference.

"This means that we must go back to our communities and ground our politics on the interest of our communities.

"And this is why we are supporting an Independent candidate to ensure that he represents the people here well," he stated.

"We are strengthening democracy in our country. We want to see a reform agenda that looks our governance, our economy and social construction.

"And we want to have a reform agenda that changes the 1992 constitution fundamentally to restrict us and protect us from ourselves when we are in governance", he added.

Dr Sakara insisted that such new thinking will go a long way to foster the interest of the nation adding, "Tiki Dange standing on his own right here as an independent candidate, We are not against anybody, any political party here.

"If you want Nana Akufo-Addo go and vote for him, if you want John Mahama, go and vote for him but vote for Tiki Dange as your parliamentary candidate and you will see the difference between 30 years and four years.

"There are many others who come from this side well established in their businesses but if you asked them to go into politics, they will say, no no, no, no don't take me there they are going to disgrace me. Why; that was not how democracy was founded," he said.

He further pleaded with the people to vote for the Independent Candidate as he has been with them for long and can relate to their needs.
