Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has arrived in the Upper East Region to visit the victims of the recent floods in the region and the affected areas.
While there, the vice president inspected a portion of the Bolga-Bawku road that had been washed away by rain.
In his address, he assured the people of the Upper East Region that government will commence work on the reconstruction of the road once the floodwaters recede.
During his visit, Dr Bawumia is also expected to donate some relief items to victims as well as pay a courtesy call on some chiefs and inspect some ongoing projects during his 2-day tour.
Information from JoyNews reporter indicates that the Bawku side of the Upper East Region has been cut off from Bolgatanga, preventing any movement from one side to the other.
A number of communities in the Northern Region have become inaccessible following days of downpour and the subsequent spillage of water from the Bagre dam on Sunday.
