The Asafohene for the Mponuahene of the Awutu Traditional Council has died while three others are in critical condition after a group of land guards stormed their community.
The thugs, numbering about 10, opened fire on the victims on a land at Awutu Kwao Bondze near Kasoa in the Central Region.
According to sources, the attack occurred when the Asafohene and his team went to the site to pay workers who are constructing a fence wall.
In an interview with Adom News' Kofi Adjei, one of the workers, Yaw Boabeng said, they were waiting for the payment when they saw the land guards firing at the Asafohene and his team.
According to him, this happened about 20 metres away from the site.
While narrating their ordeal, some of the victims said they will be able to identify the leader of the thugs and the men who shot at them.
The issue of land guards terroritising people has become rampant, with many residents being forced to flee their homes.
Speaking on the development, the Mponuahene of Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Kwabena Atopi I whose men have been shot and killed appealed to the IGP to intervene.
He told Adom News, this is not the first his people have been attacked by thugs.
