Police officers stationed at Oyibi, a town on the outskirts of Accra, are said to be working like civil servants.
They allegedly go to work at eight in the morning and close the police station at 6pm.
Residents of the area have expressed concern with the situation and asked the police headquarters to intervene.
In an interview with Joy News on Friday, the Director of Police Public Relations, ACP Kwasi Ofori said his outfit is working feverishly to put an end to the practice.
He maintained the police administration as part of its constitutional mandate must provide 24 hour protection for the people in every community.
He gave the assurance to the people of Oyibi that personnel will soon be dispatched to the area to assist in community policing.
