Former Information Minister under the late Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi Totobi Quakyi says the news of the former President’s death is terrible news for the country.
According to him, the former President’s works while in office have had a profound positive effect in the country.
He attributed Ghana’s enviable democratic process to the late former President.
“We have enjoyed as a country the longest period of democratic rule and I think he takes credit for it,” he said.
He paid glowing tributes to the deceased former President for his achievements in office and for what he stood for.
“He meant a lot for this country, I think in the coming days a lot of what he was in terms of his leadership …will come to light,” he said.
Former President Rawlings died on Thursday November 12 following a short illness.
He had only buried his mother three weeks ago.
