The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has sent a word of caution to the Fisheries Minister-designate, Mavis Hawa Koomson, not to be 'excited' to indulge in the acts of gun violence.
Mr Iddrisu's caution comes after Hawa Koomson apologised during her vetting by Parliament's Appointments Committee for firing a gun at a polling centre during the 2020 voters registration exercise.
In June 20 during the voters’ registration exercise, the MP for Awutu Senya East MP was reported to have fired a gun at a polling station during a scuffle between herself and her NDC opponent, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.
Subsequently in an interview with Adom FM, she admitted to firing the shots with claims that the move was to protect her life.
However, during her vetting Thursday, Mr Iddrisu admonished her actions, adding that it was unacceptable.
According to him, the firing of the gun as a minister of state and a legislator only goes to dent her reputation.
"I note that you have apologised for those excesses of shooting, that is not honourable, that is not ministerial," he said.
The Tamale South MP advised her to move away from the use of guns.
"You are a woman you should not be associated with those extra engagements of excitement with a gun," he said.Â
